Kovarik keeps on winning!
Monday, 25 February 2008

Chris Kovarik keeps his win streak alive by crushing the competition by over 8 seconds! This was the first time Chris was on his new Chain Reaction Cycles 'Electric Blue' Intense M6 with all the teams sponsors parts. The new bike seems to be even faster! Nice one Chris.

Congratulations Dale...
Sunday, 24 February 2008

Big congratulations to my mate Dale Holmes for his win yesterday...

Taken from www.daleholmes.com

This past weekend I went over to Fontana for the Mountain bike winter series race.
Pretty big turn out as always at Fontana and I decided to race Super D and 4x, which
were both run on Saturday. What's Super D? It's a cross between Downhill and Cross
Country where you start at 30 second intervals.

The first part of the race is on the Downhill course, then you turn around and climb a long
uphill round for about 2-3 minutes and then join the Down Hill course again at the top,
which takes you to the finish. Lots of pedaling and I've never felt my heart rate beat
so hard in years during a race. Anyway, I ended up winning, which was cool, but I was
feeling it at the finish! The race lasted 7 minutes, so it's long at such a high pace.

Todd Blazer came in second. If anyone remembers that name, Todd was a top AA in the 80s who
rode for Elf. Now Blaze is an avid Mtber and in great shape.

Straight after Super D I grabbed a drink, switched from my Cross Country Bike to my 4x bike
and headed up to the 4x course.

I felt a bit tired from the Super D but managed to recover in
time to qualify for the final OK. Me and Eric Carter had a good battle. He snapped me pretty
good from the outside but left me some room going into the first turn, so I could get under him
coming from an inside lane. We battled all the way round, which was fun, and I managed to hold
him off for the win. Pretty good day of racing.

CRC/Intense Bike has arrived!
Tuesday, 19 February 2008

Chris Kovarik just received his new CRC/Intense M6 together with the brand new Manitou Dorado forks. Julien Camellini has also received his bike and Ruaridh and Matt will have their bikes later this week. We are really pleased how the bikes have turned out. A huge thank you to all our sponsors for getting us our parts this early.

Stripped of Stripes??
Monday, 18 February 2008
Let me start by saying that Downhill (DH) and 4-Cross (4X) mountain bike racing are totally different disciplines. As I hardly race anymore and rarely ride Downhill, I am a Masters standard rider. I have not been or raced in the Elite category for a number of years. When applying for my license I was eligible to ride in either the Masters or Expert category, as I used to race Elite in both Downhill and 4-Cross.

However, I never had the time to race Downhill in any national events and British Cycling [the UK’s national cycling federation] thought it fair to upgrade the 4X part of my license to Elite because, although I hardly compete in 4X anymore, if I was to race Masters 4X in the UK it would be far too easy for me and would not be fair for all the other 4X masters riders who race week in week out in the UK. Additionally, I would not like to cause any bad feelings by riding in a category (which I am eligible for) but would be pretty easy for me to win.
